Brief Overview of the Lamborghini Company
Lamborghini is an Italian high performance sports car company. Founded in 1963 by Italian business man, Ferruccio Lamborghini, they are known to build high quality super cars, bases off V8, V10 and V12 engine designs. Lamborghini has been held in high regard since its conception and today makes some of the most powerful, expensive and exclusive cars on the market.
Ferruccio Lamborghini once owned a tractor company, and after buying a Ferrari 250GT, he was unhappy with the clutch quality. He spoke to Enzo Ferrari of his concern , who then told him to go drive tractors because he couldn't drive sports cars. This subsequently led to the founding of the Lamborghini sports car company, who made its debut with the Lamborghini 350GTV in 1963. The Bull was chosen for the company's logo, because Ferruccio Lamborghini was born under the sign of Taurus. Ferruccio Lamborghini died in 1993 (age 76) after selling the company to pursue wine making in the villa he owned.
Since 1963, Lamborghini has been bought out by several companies, corporations, and investors, due to the fact that its main competitors (Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche) had previously grown into success through long racing careers, and thus, bankruptcy has been on the horizon for Lamborghini several times, not having the funds to meet demand.
Lamborghini now enjoys worldwide recognition with such successes as the Countach, the Diablo, the MurciƩlago, and most recently the Gallardo.
